  Scientists 'wake' ancient microbes
 
  Sounding like the plot of a sci-fi movie, scientists have 'awakened" ancient microbes.

The researchers were able to “wake up” the long-dormant microbial lifeforms, which may have been trapped in the crystals between 10,000 and 50,000 years, a NASA researcher announced at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science on Friday, National Geographic reported.
