  Another Solar Flare to hit Earth
 
  The sun unleashed a huge flare Thursday, the second major solar storm to erupt from our star in less than a week.

The prediction center said the solar flare caused a "strong" radio blackout for high-frequency communication systems — an R3 disturbance on NOAA's scale — and sent out a wave of charged particles that should supercharge auroral displays. The wave is expected to sweep over our planet's magnetic field at around 1 a.m. ET Saturday, the center said.
